The new Dover Library ribbon cutting ceremony

What an exciting day for the city of Dover. After years of work by many in our city, the new Dover Library was opened with great fanfare and participation by a large number of our city's residents. It was by far the largest grand opening I've had the pleasure to attend while serving in the General Assembly. Children from nearby South Dover Elementary were on hand to participate in the first book reading by our First Lady Carla Markell and Governor Markell. The new library has a number of new features for our community to enjoy including a teen loft, meeting rooms, a jobs resource center to help our neighbors looking for employment prepare resumes and research job openings. The new library is a tremendous asset to our community - if you have not had a chance to visit please do so the next time you are downtown.
From left, Sen. Brian Bushweller (D-Dover), First Lady Carla Markell, Gov. Jack A. Markell, Dover Mayor Carleton E. Carey, Rep. Darryl Scott (D-Dover), Kent County Levy Court president Brooks Banta, Dover Library Foundation president Dorothy Snyder and Dover Public Library director Margie Cyr cut the ribbon Thursday morning on the new Dover Public Library located at 35 Loockerman Plaza.
